It is just now after two long days on the road that I hear news of the tragedy in Oslo. One report I read described the gunman as having “Christian fundamentalist, anti-Muslim views”. Another report characterised the attacks as “Norway’s Oklahoma City bombing”, which was also perpetrated by a home grown terrorist. My daughter was on a high school field trip in OKC the day of the bombing. I remember frantically trying to reach her and the relief when I knew she was safe and sound. The news that the bombing had been carried out by “home-grown” terrorist was hard to digest, it would have been easier to place my rage on a foreign enemy.
As my heart and prayers go out to the survivors and families of those killed, I am reminded that we truly have but one enemy……Evil itself.
